IREM’s making an impact
Join us in Toronto Oct. 9–12 for the premier real estate management event
IREM is taking the 2023 Global Summit to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for four days of the most exciting networking and education in real estate management. This year’s conference promises to be the most dynamic Global Summit yet, with guests coming from the four corners of the earth to learn, share, and shape the future of property management.
New this year: Extended opportunities during our pre-conference
Make an impact
We all enjoy making sandwiches, right? Flaunt your culinary skills for a good cause by participating in an IREM Foundation-sponsored pre-conference event. Join your colleagues volunteering for Club Sandwich, a Toronto-based organization that makes and delivers sandwiches to vulnerable populations in the city to tide them over until they can get their next meal. You’ll spend the afternoon building sandwiches that will be distributed to a local mission that evening, which happens to fall on Canada’s Thanksgiving Day.
Have some donuts
You may not know that Toronto is a city known for some of the best donuts on the planet. Find out for yourself—and join other IREM members and guests on pre-conference donut walking tours through downtown Toronto, Kensington Market, and Chinatown. Experience coffee and donuts from four unique and different stops along the way.
Head to the market
The heart of every city is the market, and Toronto has one of the best. Kensington Market was established in the mid-nineteenth century and today offers restaurants and vendors from all over the world, along with thrift shops, art galleries, coffee shops, cafes, tattoo parlors, and even homes. Join one of IREM’s pre-conference sponsored tours—it’s worth coming to Toronto for this experience.
Enjoy local architecture
Real estate managers are endlessly fascinated by unique architecture, and Toronto delivers. It’s the fourth-largest city in North America and one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
During your stay, take advantage of the pre-conference opportunity to tour Commerce Court. Its history reaches back to 1931 when the North Tower was the tallest building in the British Empire. The other three modern buildings, Commerce Court West, East, and South, were designed by I.M. Pei, one of the most influential architects of the modern era and recipient of numerous international awards, including the esteemed Pritzker Architecture Prize in 1983.
IREM is also offering a pre-conference tour of Southcore Financial Centre (SFC), a major mixed-use, sustainable complex located in Toronto’s Southcore Financial District. SFC is strongly committed to energy efficiency and comprises two LEED Performance Pathway Platinum, BOMA BEST Platinum, and ENERGY STAR® certified office towers totaling 1.4 million square feet.
Or sign up for the pre-conference tour of Novus Rentals, a two-tower mixed-use development in the heart of Toronto’s vibrant Liberty Village offering hotel-like amenities and thoughtfully designed suites. Novus offers 579 rental suites, 25,000 square feet of amenity space and 95,000 square feet of lifestyle-enhancing retail partners. Also called Novus at Garrison Point, developed by BentallGreenOak, the property offers residents great 360-degree views of the city from the sky lounge.
Take one or all three pre-conference tours! It’s hard to choose.

Speakers
We expect great speakers at IREM events, and this year won’t disappoint.
Don’t miss Peter Katz on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 3:30. Katz’s a Juno Award- and Canadian Screen Award-nominated singer-songwriter, who’s considered by many of his fans as “a thunderbolt for the soul.” He’s a master at creating experiential environments that inspire connection and foster shared visions. Katz frames much of his keynotes around his devotion to service, using it as a springboard to convey an underlying message that trusting in process will lead to amazing outcomes that make an impact.
Kyle Scheele believes in crazy ideas, and you should, too. Because where would we be without crazy ideas? He believes everyone should be allowed to be creative because everyone has a unique and valuable perspective. Learn to reach new heights of creativity and foster an environment where all of us are inspired and valued. Some say Scheele’s the best speaker they’ve ever heard—don’t miss him on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom.
Party!
Opening Premier Party
Canadians love hockey, and so do IREM members. Don’t you want to party at the Hockey Hall of Fame? This year’s Summit is holding the Opening Premier Party at this historic and iconic venue. The evening will be filled with networking, great food, drinks, and 60,000 square feet of hockey memorabilia, including the original Stanley Cup.
